A library card allows you to borrow books, movies, audiobooks and other items from our library and keep them for 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the type of item. In most cases there is no charge for these services.How do I get a library card?
Simply come in and fill out an application. The rest of the process varies depending on where you live and how old you are.Middlebury, York and Jefferson township residents
Everyone who lives in the Middlebury school district (Middlebury, York and Jefferson townships) must bring proof of address (usually a driver's licence), and wait until we mail your card to you before you can check items out. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must come to the library and sign your application.Reciprocal borrowers
Anyone who has a library card from one of the following libraries can now instantly use that card at the Middlebury library, with the same borrowing privileges as our regular patrons. We are also a member of the Indiana statewide reciprocal borrowing program. Click here for a list of participating libraries.

If you don't own or rent property in Middlebury, York or Jefferson township, and your library does not have a reciprocal borrowing agreement with us, you can buy a "non-resident" library card. The non-resident card fee has been reduced to $45 per year and gives you the same unlimited borrowing privileges as all our other patrons.Can I borrow from other libraries in Indiana?
If you live outside of any of our reciprocal districts, or you travel a lot in Indiana, you may want to consider buying a PLAC (Public Library Access Card). Available to anyone with a regular library card, this $50 per year card allows you to borrow items from any library in the state of Indiana.Who pays for library services?
Library services at the Middlebury library are paid for through a tiny percentage of property taxes. Everyone who owns or rents property in Middlebury, York or Jefferson township helps to pay for the services at the Middlebury Community Public Library.
